Sun, April 30, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Street Level, Stars at Night Ballroom 4

Abstract

There are very few Black males working with children from birth-2nd grade. This qualitative research design was guided by both phenomenology and case study frames. The phenomenon being studied is getting males of color into early childhood education. There were 24 participants with 3 groupings. From the three groups involved with this study: emerged themes about Black male identity, masculinity, and a strong sense of mentorship responsibility.
