Abstract

This paper explores what visual storying is (San Pedro, Koo & author, 2015) and how it can enrich inclusive learning environments. Visual storying is a way to connect with others through art-making and the sharing of lived experiences. This kind of learning challenges roles of learner, knower, and audience in that it creates cycles of reciprocity and (re)interpretation as the artwork is passed back and forth from group to audience. Individuals access imagination and build on it to enhance their learning experience, build momentum within the experience. This experience removes the power from the traditional knowledge-giver perspective to an all-inclusive one.
