Abstract

How did a non-representational notion of figured worlds as a theoretical frame for my ethnographic research, impact what counted as data in the field? In this pictorial essay, I examine two notions of Holland et al.’s (1998) figured worlds to show how I reoriented this term towards a non-representational dimension. Rather than seek an authentic notion of figured worlds, I draw out a pictorial rendering of Deleuze and Guattari’s rhizome (2000) and also draw upon a Söffner’s (2010) non-representational mimesis to name and discuss the un-constructed artifacts in my research.
