Abstract

In Cooperative Learning (CL), students work together in structured, small, heterogeneous groups to master subject matter content. More than 2,000 research studies have been conducted in general education (Johnson & Johnson, 2009), however, the impact of this pedagogical model in PE has been studied much less (Casey & Goodyear, 2015). Although less research on CL has been conducted in physical education, research has found this instructional model can enhance students’ PE and social learning experiences (Goodyear & Casey, 2015; Dyson & Casey, 2012; Lafont, Proeres, & Vallet, 2007). Therefore, the purpose of this specific study was to investigate the development of Cooperative Learning through a Professional Learning Communities for generalist primary classroom teachers instructing physical educaiton.
