Shaping Education Space: Deleuze's Notion of Territorialization and Global Citizenship Education

Abstract

After the notion of “globalization” entered into the field of education in twentieth century, it has been reshaping the education space, such as classroom, local, nation, and the world. Especially, the recent international education reforms focusing on global citizenship education influenced many countries’ conventional citizenship education. Focusing on this phenomenon, this study investigates the changing notion of ‘education space’ using Gilles Deleuze’s idea of territorialization. His philosophical approach toward space and dweller provides new way of understanding how recent international education reforms reconceptualize the education space and subject.
