Session Type: Roundtable Session
This symposium focuses on methodological issues in quantitative research in the area of work-related learning and professional development. While this field has a strong tradition in qualitative methods which allowed the field to untangle the complex constructs at hand, nowadays more and more quantitative studies are being set-up in order to generalize findings. These quantitative studies foremost rely on (often cross-sectional) survey studies applying traditional statistical analyses such as regression analyses. Recently however, studies have started using more novel and advanced methods derived from adjacent fields. This symposium brings five of these papers together. Each paper will shortly present the method and will illustrate its rationale and possibilities using a study in the field of work-related learning and professional development.
