Session Summary

32.043 - Opportunities for Learning From Participation in International Professional Experience

Fri, April 28, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: River Level, Room 8B

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

In this symposium, teacher educators from four different institutions present findings from their research into the professional learning gained from participating in an international professional experience program. As the AERA theme suggests, education has the potential to provide students life-enhancing opportunities that they might have otherwise been denied. In this symposium, we present findings from research into the learning and engagement potential for teacher educators and student teachers when teaching in diverse international contexts. These experiences provide opportunities for learning and engagement that would be difficult to access in their home contexts, and that contribute to their professional practice of providing educational opportunities for students in a range of diverse contexts.
