Abstract

Researchers and practitioners both acknowledge a gap between research findings and implementation in educational practice. One way to bridge this divide is to include practitioners on the research team. By participating in the research process, practitioners can increase their understanding of research and consider ways to incorporate research into their work. Collaboration with practitioners also may enhance the research process by including diverse perspectives and knowledge of the education landscape.
The proposed symposium will explore lessons learned about four key topics, each based on a paper discussed by a REL Midwest or REL-NEI representative. Each discussion will be followed by a short question-and-answer session and an interactive activity focused on identifying challenges and solutions for navigating research-practice partnerships.
