Session Type: Symposium
In this session, established and emerging Black women researchers in the fields of mathematics and engineering education convene to present an integrated and collaborative symposium that presents four papers and invites dialogue to problematize equal educational opportunity related to Black women and girls in mathematics and engineering. As a collective, we take up Black Feminism as an analytic tool to (a) critique and interrogate the extant literature, (b) deconstruct Black women and girls experiences in mathematics and engineering spaces, and (c) present possibilities and implications for democratizing educational practice and policy.
