Session Type: Symposium
What it means to be an effective mentor is a question commonly raised across the teacher development pipeline. Those mentoring preservice teachers rarely have the opportunity to learn with individuals mentoring inservice teachers; even less frequently are scholars who study mentoring at distinct phases of development brought together. Reporting on research spanning a wide spectrum of methodologies, this symposium explores what it means to provide high quality mentoring across multiple institutions and programs responsible for the education of teachers at different stages of learning. Our objective is to begin to conceptualize “effective” mentoring using evidenced-based perspectives that might benefit researchers and practitioners across the developmental continuum of teacher learning.
