Session Type: Symposium
The Change Laboratory is a formative intervention method based on cultural-historical activity theory and the theory of expansive learning. Change Laboratories have been carried out in workplaces, educational institutions and communities around the world. Change Laboratories differ from most varieties of design-based research in that the analysis and re-design of the activities are done by the participating practitioners. The method represents an innovative form of workplace learning. The aim of this symposium is to identify important dimensions of variation in the ways Change Laboratories are conducted in different cultural conditions. Such dimensions of variation may be used in the construction of different types of pedagogical implementation of the Change Laboratory, adapted to different cultural and historical circumstances and workplace challenges.
