58.077 - District-Driven Problems of Practice: What Can Practitioner-Scholars Learn and How Do Districts Benefit?

Sun, April 30, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 221 D

Session Type: Structured Poster Session

Abstract

Transformational partnerships among university schools of education and school districts have increased in popularity as mutually beneficial relationships with shared goals (Butcher, Bezzina, & Moran, 2011; Orr, 2006, 2011). This structured poster session seeks to investigate the extent of potential short-term and long-term mutual benefits of one new partnership to both districts and Doctor of Education (EdD) students (practitioner-scholars). The presenters will report on the unique opportunity of solving problems of practice through preparing authentic district-driven reports. Representatives from participating school districts and practitioner-scholars will provide varying partnership perspectives, including describing the methodologies, results, substantiated conclusions, and significance of individual projects within the research partnership. This session will also provide recommendations for practice and future research.
