Abstract

In this symposium, we use Agar’s (2006) concept of languaculture to depict the evolution of a collaborative effort among faculty from special and general education who collaborated to design an innovative K-12 World Language/Special Education licensure program. Findings demonstrate how the language used promoted and hindered collaboration in the design process and how faculty in both departments expanded their perspectives to include concepts not previously held to better prepare candidates to provide equal educational opportunities for all K-12 students, regardless of cultural and linguistic backgrounds, or ability levels.
