72.011 - The Atlantic Rim Collaboratory: An Emergent Movement for Global Educational Change

Abstract

This interactive symposium will present the goals, processes, and outcomes of the Atlantic Rim Collaboratory, a multinational initiative including eight systems committed to alternative visions for education reform. In contrast to global trends emphasizing accountability, standardization, and privatization, these systems illustrate how collaboration around issues of equity, well-being, inclusion, and diversity can work in the service of democratic ideals to improve outcomes for all education stakeholders. Representative members from California, Finland, Ontario, Scotland, and Vermont will present their contributions to the ARC in an interactive and innovative format, followed by a discussion led by ARC thought leaders focused on the implications of this collaboration for international relations in education.
