Abstract

This symposium is a follow up to the monumental public performances enacted as part of the Arts and Inquiry in the Visual and Performing Arts in Education SIG (AIVPAE SIG) at Franklyn Delano Roosevelt (FDR) and Martin Luther King (MLK) monuments in Washington, DC in 2016. This symposium will include reflections and deepened inquiries into the critical arts-based scholarship derived from the original evocative site specific performances. In keeping with the current conference goal to bring “knowledge to action: achieving the promise of equal educational opportunity” this session will demonstrate, through moving image videos, poetry, papers and performance, how critical arts-based inquiry scholars move from response to knowledge to equitable educational action.
