Session Type: Symposium
The goal of this symposium is to develop better understanding of the research methods and methodologies used to study educational issues from Critical Race Theory (CRT) perspectives, and to make contributions to the ongoing methodological debates related to the epistemological and ontological implications of chosen methods to study educational problems associated with race and ethnicity. Specifically, the outcomes of this symposium are threefold: (1) to discuss and analyze the different methods and methodologies used by researchers to investigate educational research problems from CRT perspectives; (2) to examine the epistemological and ontological issues associated with the transactions among research methods, methodologies, and in this case, critical race theoretical perspectives; (3) and to critique current misapplications of critical race theory.
