25.012 - The Curriculum of Lines of Flight in Transformative Pedagogies: Resistances in the Age of Neoliberalism

Fri, April 28, 8:15 to 9:45am, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Room 303 C

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

The current era of “corporate education reform” provides a challenging context for preparing and supporting teachers to enact teaching practices and pedagogies consistent with goals of social justice. Possibilities for resistance to the status quo of practice in K-16 educational institutions exist, even as mere cracks, and even in increasingly neoliberal times. Drawing from diverse perspectives, the set of papers in this symposium explore the “lines of flight” constructed by educators across the teacher professional continuum, including pre-service and new teachers as well as school-based mentors, that open up possibilities for different ways of teaching and learning.
