Abstract

The National Center for Education Statistics has decades of experience in large-scale assessments that reflect changes in our classrooms and our world. We have adapted our assessments to reflect research-based changes in theory, practice, and policy, and most recently, innovative changes in technology. As we transition from paper-and-pencil to next generation assessments, we can share our unique insights and lessons we have learned while transforming theory into reality.

Join us for a symposium to discuss the transition to digitally based assessments (DBA) for the National Assessment of Educational Progress. Experts will review topics including context and rationale for shifting to DBA, item development, scoring, analysis, and reporting. Results from the 2015 and 2016 assessments and released items will be presented.
