Session Type: Symposium
Mindfulness-based trainings are becoming increasingly common in education. The purpose of this session is to highlight results from two randomized-control studies of mindfulness training for teachers with regard to teacher, classroom and student impacts. The studies in this symposium include a large project with elementary school teachers and students and a more modest project with middle school teachers and students. What do project results tell about the overall potential impacts of these programs on teacher, student and classroom outcomes, and are there key moderators or mediators of program impact? The four empirical papers in this session, utilizing mixed methods within randomized-control study designs, attempt to address these questions with regard to intervention research in elementary and middle school settings.
