Abstract

These papers illuminate a wide array of research that impact how teachers are constructed in the social imaginary. The studies explore both formal and informal teacher preparation and continuing development, the hybridity of space in teacher testing, and emerging teachers’ internalized identity development. Examining these wide ranging aspects of the teaching self can help us understand how teachers are grappling with their own sense of autonomy while navigating the structural constraints of the profession.
