Abstract

The 2017 Huberman Award will be presented to Dr. Geert Kelchtermans, professor at University of Leuven (Belgium) and chair of the Centre for Educational Policy, Innovation and Teacher Education. Dr. Kelchterman’s work over the last 30 years explores the complex interplay between teachers and their individual and collective sense making, examining structural and cultural conditions constituting teachers’ work lives through micro-political lenses. Dr. Kelchtermans has also pioneered narrative-biographical research methods to capture teachers’ voices. The Huberman Award presentation will chronicle Dr. Kelchterman’s journey in studying and learning from/about the complex lives of teachers, with commentary from invited discussants.
