School districts, state departments of education and others applying for funds or conducting programs under ESSA must document the evidence for the effectiveness of any programs being implemented. ESSA applies the “evidence-based” requirement to a state, local education agency, or school’s activity, strategy, or intervention. Those activities must demonstrate a statistically significant effect on improving student outcomes or other relevant outcomes. We will explore the idea to combine the expertise and credentials of a selected group of educational researchers and evaluators to award confirmational “badges” to interventions.
