Abstract

Doctoral students completing their programs face two yawning chasms between three pillars: From graduate student to job applicant to new assistant professor. How does one complete one’s dissertation, closing that door; research and apply for positions, peeking through multiple other doors; and walk through a door and become part of the conversation in a new setting that may be quite different from one’s dissertation home? A group of dissertation advisors, new assistant professors, and deans will discuss this daunting journey on which many have embarked.
