Sandra Bland was a vibrant, well-loved Black woman who died in police custody in Waller County, Texas, in 2015. Bland's death gained national and international attention because she was stopped for a minor infraction, and because her death is deemed to be suspicious by myriad legal experts. Her death launched a national campaign called "Say Her Name" which focuses on Black women's deaths in custody. Sharon Cooper will be joined by several prominent Black women educational researchers, who will share papers on educational researchers' responsibilities to "say her name."
