Abstract

The four papers presented in this roundtable session each present a unique look at the development, structure and function of science and STEM identities across K-12 and professional experiences. In this roundtable session we will learning about theoretical -practical work using a cultural-historical lens to explore how science educators could view science and design instruction for their future students; Exploring the impact of learning science via hands-on garden experiences on 6th grade minority students’ motivation, science achievement and science identity; Compare the impact of students’ perceptions of science class empowerment, usefulness, success, interest and caring on US and Icelandic students’ science identity; and Compare professional identities in “wild” STEM fields.
