Many research studies have paid attention to the education problem of Chinese internal migrant children and this study was designed to examine whether school choice, monthly household income, parents’ education level and parents’ expectation as four predictor variables can significantly predict children’s academic performance. Independent t-tests were run to examine the mean differences of the four predictor variables between the two groups of students—non-local migrant group and local group. The results show that significant differences of school choice and parents’ education level were found between the two groups. Besides, multiple regression results suggest that with school choice, monthly household income, parents’ education level and parents’ expectation as predictor variables, students academic performance (total score) can be significantly predicted.
