Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the role of study-related burnout in studies by examining how it is related to students' processes of understanding, time management and effort as well as academic achievement in studies. The participants of this study were 339 first-year university students. The analyses were conducted with quantitative measures using confirmatory factor analysis, k-means clustering and Anovas. The results show that students’ processes of understanding as well as time management and effort in studying are related to study-related burnout. The study suggests to take into account students study skills as well as learning processes when considering burnout in higher education.
