A preponderance of research on educational leadership and organizational improvement focuses on either the human or social capital of educators. However, very little attention has been paid to the idea of intellectual capital (the interactions between human and social capital) and its relationship with financial capital among school leaders. Using social network analysis, we address these gaps by exploring individuals’ intellectual capital and its relationship with financial capital in the form of salary, gender, and the level of organizational commitment. Our data include school principals across one large urban public school district in California. Key findings suggest that principals’ network positions vary by salary, by gender, and by level of organization commitment.
