Sat, April 14, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Park Central Hotel New York, Floor: Mezzanine Level, Manhattan B Room

Abstract

This paper reports the methods and findings from a research project investigating the professional learning and development facilitation and coaching practices that influence and support the development of middle leaders in schools. The results show that there are a considerable number of complex and interrelated aspects of adaptive expertise that rely on prior curriculum and pedagogical knowledge as well as the development of skills in coaching, evaluative inquiry, modelling and building relational trust. Implications for the training and support of professional learning and development of facilitators will be discussed.
