Inuit Environmental Science: Land Survival and Culture for Innovative Inuit Futures

Sat, April 14, 2:15 to 3:45pm, New York Marriott Marquis, Floor: Fifth Floor, Westside Ballroom Salon 1

Abstract

Inuit across the Nunangat are calling for an Inuit education to address language learning, strong environmental protections, and completion of their education (Berger, 2008; Simon, 2017). Life and Land are changing very quickly in the Arctic: the Inuit Environmental Science program, developed by the Land Survival and Culture team in the Kativik School Board centers Land and place and will equip Inuit youth with the cultural and academic competencies to meet these changes with the innovation, respect, advocacy and generosity that have been characteristic of Inuit peoples for millennia.
