Working and learning in teams is omnipresent. However, conflict may arise within teams and impede success. Our study investigates the interplay between task conflict, relationship conflict, and team psychological safety as determinants of team learning behavior. We utilize a sample of 370 undergraduate students nested in 94 collegiate business planning teams. Using SEM, we provide evidence that team psychological safety promotes team learning behavior. Moreover, the influence of task and relationship conflict on team learning behavior is fully mediated by team psychological safety. Our findings contribute to the theory of team learning behavior. Further, they have implications for effective team learning, especially in higher education, and for fostering students’ teamwork competence necessary for their professional careers and lives.
