Abstract

To understand and fully explore the contexts in which and processes through which leadership is enacted, we examine the substance and structure of the school as organization. This working group roundtable will promote dialogue around emerging and promising approaches to theory development and research into school organizing and organizations with the intent of better understanding those features that contribute to school leadership today. Participants will address emerging developments in organizational theory that hold potential for expanding understandings of schools as complex contexts. We aim to enhance understandings of the relationship(s) between school organization and school leadership and management, and explore the implications of studying schools as organizations for the development of educational organizational theory.
