This manuscript contributes to higher education scholarship by investigating the experiences of queer Latino men as they create familial relationships during their time in college. Utilizing data from The National Study [Masked for Review], this paper employs Yosso’s (2005) Community Cultural Wealth model to elucidate how chosen family members of queer Latino men fulfill multiple roles in helping them to succeed at selective institutions. In addition to providing emotional and social support, chosen familia also bolster queer Latino college men’s navigational, aspirational, and resistant capital. Using a narrative inquiry approach, this study produces numerous important implications for staff and faculty at selective institutions as they seek to assist these individuals in achieving success in college.
