This study sought to address the research question: What project management knowledge, skills, and abilities must an educational technologist possess to be successful in their role and responsibilities? We interviewed 14 educational technology professionals from across the United States using semi-structured protocol based on the current definition of the field of educational technology. Using the constant comparative method, we analyzed our data to identify relevant themes. Four primary themes emerged from our data: knowledge, skills, abilities, and resources. Our results suggest that educational technology professionals must have a solid foundation in project management. Findings from our study are useful to educational technology professionals, academic programs, and professional associations.
