This case study explores the meaning of a department-to-department collaboration when school leadership and curriculum faculty unite to create a professional development program, in partnership with an international schools network in Egypt, for development of 10,000 teachers. Using cultural competence, partnership and curriculum/leadership frameworks, we focused on how two departments forged new dialogues across research, teaching, and service In so doing, we highlight how for a sample of faculty and administrators involved with the project, their professional practice has changed (i.e., informed preparation of future educators). We conclude meaningful partnerships between school leaders and curriculum faculty are essential (like partnerships between principals and teachers) if we are serious about confronting the challenges of public education and connecting leadership with curriculum.
