District Leadership in the Era of College- and Career-Readiness Standards

Sun, April 15, 2:45 to 4:15pm, New York Marriott Marquis, Floor: Seventh Floor, Chelsea/Gotham Room

Abstract

District officials still face a variety of successes and challenges in bolstering student achievement in the context of standards-based reform. Given the recent emphasis on district offices as agents of change in the process of transforming high quality instruction (Anderson, 2003), we investigate how district administrators lead the process of implementing college- and career- readiness (CCR) standards. Our mixed methods study integrates survey and interview data from 27 districts in three states over a two-year research period.
