This research explores how an experience-based holistic curriculum supports the dreams and possibilities of public education by contributing to the identities, cultures, languages, values, and ways of knowing of diverse populations including the First Nation, Inuit and Métis Peoples of Canada. A large-scale arts experience marking and celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary served as a critical and creative medium in which to explore a holistic approach to teaching and learning. Based on a three-year community partnership with an elementary school, including teachers administrators, and students, the Artistic Director and musicians of the Symphony Orchestra, and university educators, we are presenting the provocations and challenges experienced in Year 2 of the study.
