Fri, April 13, 12:00 to 1:30pm, Sheraton New York Times Square, Floor: Second Floor, Empire Ballroom East

Abstract

Race and racism are not common scholarship topics in social studies education, yet there are a minority of scholars within the field leading this work in research and in the classroom. This paper presents the findings of a qualitative interview study exploring why some social studies teacher educators have placed race as an important component in the social studies teacher education curriculum.
