Power to the People: The Democratic Processes of the Academy and Belongingness Among University Students, Staff, and Faculty

Abstract

Using a sample of 1,132 students, staff, and faculty respondents, we observe that one’s engagement with the democratic processes of organizational decision-making and participation has a positive and significant influence on feeling valued, even after controlling for personal characteristics and other dimensions of campus climate.
