Researchers suggest that student agency is an important aspect of literacy instruction. While there is consensus that agency may be an important aspect of literacy instruction, there is not consensus in how agency is conceptualized, defined, and theorized in literacy research. The goal of this proposal is to share findings from a concept analysis of student agency within literacy contexts. Findings detail definitions, theories, research designs, antecedents and barriers as well as a conceptual framework of student agency.
