Abstract

The first online course was offered over 30 years ago. Since that time, online educators have learned a great deal about what works and doesn’t work when designing and facilitating online courses, much of which is not represented in the literature on online learning. Thus, despite the continued growth in online learning, there remains a disconnect between the research and practice of online learning. In this session, we will present an analysis of online educators’ lessons learned designing and facilitating online courses and discuss the ramifications of these lessons learned and how they can be used to enhance the research and practice of online learning.
