Liaisons-in-Residence Influence Teacher Development as Hybrid Teacher Leaders

Tue, April 17, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Sheraton New York Times Square, Floor: Second Floor, Metropolitan West Room

Abstract

This proposal describes a phenomenological case study of teacher leaders in a liaison-in-residence role. Liaisons-in-residence were school-based teacher educators who served in multiple teacher educator roles: mentor teacher, peer mentor, teacher candidate supervisor and evaluator. Participants in this study were identified as hybrid teacher leaders and agreed to engage in shared study of their practice and its influence on teacher development at multiple levels. Findings indicate teacher development emerges from hybrid teacher leadership for self and others, even in unexpected ways (reciprocal development with university-based teacher educators).
