The purpose of this study is to examine how a panel of 30 “expert” community leaders reviewed and offered feedback on the current iteration of the Community Equity Literacy Leadership Assessment (CELLA) as a way to refine and further develop the instrument. We also describe the empirical studies (i.e., sorting study, cognitive interview, expert panel review, and a pilot study) that we conducted to develop the current iteration of the CELLA. Findings suggest that the instrument's items are representative of the overall CELLA constructs. We conclude with implications for future research.
