The purpose of this article is to present the outcomes of a program evaluation of a community-based non-profit college access program. Forty-seven at-risk, minority youth who were predominately Latino Americans, low-income, lived in urban areas, and were first-generation, participated in the program. For 83% of them, this program was the only source from which they received support in getting ready for college. Results indicated that all of the students who applied to postsecondary institutions were accepted. Overall, students perceived having high intrinsic motivation and a sense of connectedness to the program and their peers. This study represents an alternative approach to conducting quasi-experimental research designs and a potential model for small nonprofit organizations to consider when providing college preparation services.
