A pretest-posttest quasi experimental design was utilized. 61 students from a vocational college in Turkey participated to the study. Students in the experiment group worked in a learning environment supported by dynamic web technologies in order to solve ill-structured computer programming problems while students in the control group were taught the course with the traditional methods such as lecturing and demonstration. The results indicated that experiment group had higher scores than control group in terms of achievement and collaborative learning engagement while there was no significant difference in terms of engagement of active learning activities between groups.
