Sat, April 14, 8:15 to 9:45am, New York Hilton Midtown, Floor: Third Floor, Americas Hall 1-2 - Exhibit Hall

Abstract

Students suffering from sleep problems tend to demonstrate a poor academic performance and impaired social-emotional functioning. We conducted this study to fill the gap in the available literatures by evaluating a tool of measuring sleep quality and investigating the relationship between cognitive and emotional functioning and sleep quality among college students. Questionnaires were completed by 189 college students. Results yielded a 3-factor model that obtained perfect fit and was significantly better than the original single-factor model. Further, a low sleep quality was significantly associated with cognitive and emotional functioning items. The findings suggested improvement for the sensitivity of measuring sleep quality when using in college students and reinforce the link between sleep quality and cognitive and emotional functioning.
