Research suggests anti-racist, anti-oppressive, social justice, and culturally responsive leadership has become strongly established. But there have been very few studies on the role that community/ cultural liaisons, equity teams, and teachers leaders can play in establishing cultural responsiveness in schools. Johnson (2007) discusses how a culturally responsive principal hired a parent liaison to improve community engagement, and Beachum and Dentith (2004) show how teacher leaders can contribute to improving cultural responsiveness by improving school culture and engagement. In this study, we look at how cultural liaisons and teacher leaders in one district perceived their own involvement in growing a cultural responsive district.
