Based on qualitative and ethnographic methodologies, we examine the life narratives of immigrant Latina and indigenous Maya mothers and their families at a K-5 school in a large metropolitan area and school district in northern California. We draw from interview data and the analysis of videos from workshops organized as part of a colaborativo, a partnership between our research team and these mothers, to examine a set of testimonios told by these mothers. Through these testimonios we have come to understand what we are calling women-centered pedagogies of migration and education where Western and (neo)colonial definitions of what it means to mother is challenged and where transnational community knowledge is being learned, shared, and re-created
