Abstract

To improve the quality of higher education in China through enhancing teaching and learning has
become a critical issue recently. This study focused on vocational college students' approaches to learning and their perceptions of teacher interactions. The results from a sample of 1003 vocational college students in Anhui province showed that they scored relatively high in deep
approach and strategic approach to learning. The structural equation modeling analysis showed
that teacher’s helpful/friendly, understanding, offering students freedom, dissatisfied and strict
interactions with students can significantly influence students' approaches to learning.
