How committed are we to peace activism in our respective institutional contexts? What happens if we turn our peace research lens back on our own scholarly communities and institutions? I confront these questions through a series of three distinct efforts:
(1) A critical discourse analysis of peaceful student protests during the 2016-2017 academic year;
(2) An autoethnographic exploration of being a peace activist and scholar during the same year; and
(3) A proposal to live out peace activism as scholars.
The purpose is to illustrate and argue for better integrating our scholarly institutional relationships with our scholarship including an analysis of institutional climate as context.
